REVERSE ENGINEERING AND RHETORIC
CORN POPPER PROJECT
In this project, I worked with a team to analyze a Fisher-Price Corn Popper toy on the basis of its rhetoric and engineering. My team and I disassembled a corn popper to give a technical description and process explanation of the toy. Also, I learned how to analyze the rhetoric appeals of ethos, logos, and pathos. I applied what I learned to analyze the rhetoric used on the Fisher-Price website and the packaging of the corn popper in regard to its ability to persuade the audience to buy the product. Additionally, we identified an opportunity for improvement to make the toy accessible for children with disabilities and proposed a new design for the toy.
